Hello!

Well, on this somewhat rainy afternoon, the “title” of this message might seem a bit out of place. However, as a Temple social at the lake is now in the planning stages, I thought the mention of a fun day in the sun might be just the thing to make everyone smile!  There will be more to come on this as the plans progress but, for now, pencil in Saturday, August 12 (11am-5pm) and plan to join us!

Redecorating

Over the next few weeks, you may notice some bare walls and the movement of some items within the Temple as we make room to properly display the beautiful artwork that has recently been donated to the Temple, as well as the special pieces we already have. To do this properly, it will be necessary to take down items currently on the walls (this does not include the sanctuary), repair the existing hanger locations and paint, as necessary.  Once these repairs are complete, the artwork will be placed back on the walls, based on the recommendations of a group congregants who stepped up to take on this challenge.  Many thanks to Emily Kelly, Jane Zeff and Susan Frank for your well thought-out recommendations and many thanks to Don Welch for volunteering to repair the walls and hang the pieces as recommended.

Board Meeting

We covered a lot of ground at the Board meeting this past Sunday. In addition to the information I have already shared, above, here is a brief recap of some of the topics discussed:

  • A decision was made to move forward with the historic plaque; All members will receive a letter from me on this shortly
  • A new charitable donation form has been created and approved; This will be made available at the Temple and, when Website updates are completed, it will also be available there
  • New key and lock procedures have been approved and will be implemented as soon as possible; If you have a key and have not notified me of that, please do so immediately
  • The phone/answering machine in the office will be replaced with another phone/answering machine shortly
  • The Board is considering options to repair and replace the signage at the cemetery in Sheffield
  • This August, a small group of volunteers will again participate in the UNA Big Deal
  • The Temple will sponsor light refreshments at the book signing event with Debra Goldstein at the Florence Public Library on September 17 – more to come

If you have any questions about any of the items we discussed, please feel free to reach out to me or any of the Board members for clarity.
