If you happen by the Temple this week, and look around back, you will find a Sukkah constructed and decorated by quite a few members of the Congregation. We had a nice Sukkot service, after the construction and decoration was completed, followed by a wonderful “pot luck” meal. Many thanks to everyone who helped with building the Sukkah – while many helped, special thanks goes to Shelley Wolf for her perseverance! Many thanks, also, to everyone who brought items to cover and decorate the Sukkah! It was truly a group effort – each sharing their talents when needed.

I also want to say again how nice it was to see so many members, family members and friends during the High Holidays. Rabbi Nancy did a wonderful job leading the services and assigning reading/participation parts! And all those that participated did a wonderful job and really helped make each service special! And, I have to mention the food for our break-the-fast…YUM! Thanks, everyone, for bringing a dish to share!

While we still have Simchat Torah to celebrate this coming Friday evening, I (personally) think all of our holidays have been fabulous this fall! Hope you do too!

Community Giving
We had fabulous participation in the food drive again this year! Thanks to everyone that brought donations! The people at the Help Center were so excited when Don and I delivered everything on Friday morning! We estimate it was a total of about 35 “bags” (think of a bag as a large grocery paper bag, not the smaller plastic ones) of food. They just couldn’t thank us enough and wanted to be sure I conveyed that back to our members. THANK YOU!

In the Spotlight
If you haven’t seen the article about the Temple that appeared in the Times Daily this past Saturday, you should be able to click on the attached link and read it. Kuddos to the Membership Committee for working with the reporter from the paper to get this done! And thanks to Michelle Bernstein, Shelley Cohen, Stanley Goldstein and Rabbi Nancy for meeting with the reporter and sharing your wisdom and sentiments. http://www.timesdaily.com/life/religion/temple-b-nai-israel-congregation-remains-strong-in-shoals/article_6ffb20e7-8048-5c24-8b39-d1a61c5102dd.html
