As a banker, I always enjoy President’s Day as it is a holiday for us…but, whether you had the day off or not, I hope you enjoyed the nice weather we had over the weekend and maybe had a chance to participate is a sale or two! It’s hard to believe we are having 70-degree weather in the middle of February and I hope we don’t have a sudden turn that freezes all those pretty little buds that are popping out all over the place!

There isn’t a lot of news to share with you this week so this will be a short message. I will note that we continue to be in need of a Chair for the Membership Committee and I sure would appreciate it if someone would volunteer to take this on!  If you have been looking for a way to get involved, this is a good place to start!  Please reach out and let me know!

 Save the Dates!

Friday evening, March 10, we will be celebrating Purim!  Rabbi Nancy asks that you “bring the kids along” to enjoy the fun!  And, bring the kid in you too!  In addition, the Rabbi has challenged all to a hamantaschen bake-off so bake up your best batch and bring it along!  Don’t worry, Buddy has to be the judge so you won’t be competing against our “master chef”!  J

Sunday evening, March 19 will be the date of our first Social event for the year so please mark that on your calenda! Rumor has it that we will again do our soup and chili dinner so start making plans to whip up your favorite chili or soup recipe to share.  In addition, we will have a fun event to participate in – apparently that might be something other than Bingo this year but it will absolutely be something for all ages to enjoy!

Monday evening, April 10 will be the date of our community Seder. More news to come as the details fall into place.  For now, please also note this date on your calendar!

Services and Torah Study

Our service schedule for the remainder of February and for March is as follows:

As always, congregants and members of the Shoals community, at large, are invited to attend the weekly Torah Study session which is held each Saturday morning at 9:30, at the Temple.

 Reminder items:

  • Annual Pledge – if you have not already done so, please return your 2017 dues pledge card to Marty as soon as possible.

If you are aware of something in the community that you would like me to draw some attention to in my message, please let me know! And, as always, if you have any announcements you would like for me to share with our membership, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

I hope you all have a wonderful week and I look forward to seeing you this Friday night!

Shalom!
