It is hard to believe the High Holidays have already come and gone! Everything was beautiful and many thanks to everyone who pitched in and made each service (and the events following services) so very special!  Thank you, Rabbi Nancy, for organizing the services and lining up opportunities for us all to participate, as we so desired.  As I noted about Rosh Hashanah last week, Yom Kippur services were both moving and meaningful and it was wonderful to share them with so many of you!  But the celebrations are not over yet!  This Friday we have Sukkot and next Friday we will celebrate Simchat Torah so come on back and join us.

A Few High Holidays Thank Yous

  • Many thanks to Howard Zeff and all the volunteers who assisted in getting the Temple ready for Yom Kippur services last week. Thanks, too to all those that assisting in getting the Break-the-Fast organized and, especially to those that made sure everything was picked up and cleaned up afterwards. All the wonderful cover-dish items brought by the congregation were fabulous and it was clear that everyone enjoyed partaking!
  • Annual Food Drive – Many, many thanks to all congregants that brought items to donate to our food drive! We were able to provide the Help Center with quite a bit of food and it was truly appreciated.

 Decorating the Sukkah

As I noted above, this Friday we will celebrate Sukkot. Come join us as we decorate our Sukkah, hold our service and then enjoy some dinner together. We will be taking up a collection for dinner and will have the food brought in…so you are off the hook for preparing a dish!  The schedule for Friday, October 6, is as follows:

  • 5:00pm – decorate the Sukkah;
  • 6:00pm – Sukkot service;
  • 6:45pm – congregational dinner

Celebrating Jean Ellen Schulman!

Please put Sunday, October 15 on your calendar! We will be celebrating Jean Schulman’s 90th birthday and I hope to see everyone there!  The celebration will take place at the Temple from 2:00pm-4:00pm.  Please plan to join us and please bring an oneg-type food item to share with those in attendance.  In addition, volunteers are needed to help decorate/set-up prior to that Sunday and to help clean-up following the celebration.  Please contact Howard Zeff if you can help or if you have any additional questions.

Condolences

Our condolences go out to Adolph Abroms and all the Abroms family on the loss of Adoph’s sister, Evelyn Kraus, this past Sunday, October 6.  May her memory be a blessing.  Our hearts are with you during this difficult time.
