Happy 4th of July to you all!  I am sending this message a day early this week because I expect many of us will be doing things other than sitting at our computers tomorrow…or at least I hope so!  I will also keep it as short as I can, given that many of you might be working on preparations for tomorrow and really aren’t interested in taking the time to read a lot of stuff today.  J

Special Oneg for Ray Cavadel

Ray Cavadel is turning 90 on Friday, July 14th so come out and celebrate that monumental event with us at services that evening! Rabbi Nancy will be here to celebrate with us and, in addition to cake, we are planning to hold a special oneg.  You can help by bringing a finger food item to share with other members and guests.

Fiddler on the Roof is Coming to the Shoals

If you aren’t already aware, I wanted to share that “Fiddler on the Roof” will be performed at the Ritz Theatre in Sheffield this month. Performances will be Thursday July 20 – Saturday, July 22 and then again on Thursday, July 27 and Friday, July 28.  Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for students.  Thanks to Karen Goldstein for reminding me to share this with you all!

 Erwin’s Books are Going Fast!

If you haven’t already purchased a copy of the updated addition of Erwin’s Book, A History of Temple B’nai Israel, get one now before they are all gone!  Howard Zeff has quite a few autograhed copies so be sure and ask for one of those!  Also, please let your friends and family know the books are now available.  Copies are selling for only $20 and you can get yours by contacting Howard Zeff.

A Gig at the Gogue – 2017 Handy at the Temple Event

This year’s WC Handy Event at the Temple will be held Saturday July 29th starting at 2:00pm and you won’t want to miss it! Rabbi Nancy and Scott Whitehead are sure to provide a fun-filled performance so add it to your calendar now!  Volunteers are needed to help set up prior to the event and to help clean-up/straighten-up following the event.  If you can help with either or both, please contact Howard Zeff and let him know now.

 Social Event at the Lake!

Thanks to a generous offer from Buddy and Michelle Bernstein, our next big social event will be on Pickwick Lake!  Plan to bring a “covered dish” item to share for lunch and join us on Saturday, August 12, from 11:00am to 5:00pm.  We are looking forward to it being a fun event for everyone that can join us – you won’t want to miss it!
