Happy Passover!
I hope everyone is enjoying a wonderful Passover and finding lots of new and exciting ways to prepare dishes using matza! I also hope all that were able to join us for our Temple Seder enjoyed themselves. Rabbi Nancy did a wonderful job leading us in a service that reminded us of the Passover story in both a fun and meaningful way and our Seder Committee co-chairs, Emily Kelley and Jane Zeff, assisted by Sybil Abroms and Ken Wolf, did a wonderful job coordinating the entire event! Of course, the whole thing could not have been pulled off without a host of others chipping in so I will attempt to name and thank those that volunteered in various ways but will apologize now if I fail to mention anyone…if I do, please let me know!
Those who prepared the food: Rhoda P Catering, Stephanie Coleman (matza ball soup), Ray Cavadel (horseradish), Dick Peshkin (shank bone), Emily and Jane (charoses); Those who helped with the decorations: Jean Mammen, Ken Wolf, Jane Chasen, Sallie Muhlendorf, Sybil Abroms and Michelle Bernstein; Those who helped set up the tables and chairs: Howard Zeff, Don Welch, Josh Bruce, Ken and Shelley Wolf, Robert Adler, Sidney Greenberg, and Jeff Schneider; And those who helped with the cleanup and return of the sanctuary to “normal” – Emily, Jane, Howard, Josh, Dick, Robert, Don, Shelley, and the Torah study class.
Many, many thanks to you all for helping make our Passover Seder such a beautiful event!
Rabbi Nancy will be here again this week to lead our services. The dates that she will be with us, through June, are:
- April 29
- May 6 and 13
- June 10 and 17
Please note > It has been decided that, due to the Memorial Day weekend, we will NOT have services Friday night, May 27! Please mark your calendar accordingly!
On those nights when Rabbi Nancy is not able to join us, the Ritual Committee will ensure services are provided. If you would like to participate in any part of our services, please reach out to our Ritual Committee Co-Chairs, Ken Wolf and Robert Adler, to let them know.
And, for a thorough review of the weekly Torah portion, come join the Torah study group that meets each Saturday morning at 9:30.
This coming Sunday, May 1, is the next Board meeting. If you have ever wondered what goes on at a Board meeting, please feel free to attend. We will meet from 10:00am until about noon, at the Temple.
Wondering what is going on and when at the Temple? Go out and check the calendar on the new Website! You will find the site at www.florencetemple.org. (If you would like to receive a copy of the “Website Quick Guide” to help you get started, let me know.) And while you’re out there, let us know what you think of the new site!
As always, if you have any announcements you would like for me to share with our membership, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me and…
I hope you all have a wonderful week and I look forward to seeing you Friday evening!
Shalom!
