This message will not have a lot of new content this week as we have seen a good bit of each other over the last week and will all be back together again tonight…I am, again, looking forward to our service and our congregant participation! Please remember that we will have our break-the-fast at the close of services on Yom Kippur – Wednesday evening. So, please plan to bring a dish to share. You should have received a message from Howard Zeff on this topic earlier this week but, if not, here it is for you:
Reminder that we will have our break the fast meal immediately following the concluding Yom Kippur service this Wednesday evening. Please bring a dish to share. We do not know what everyone will bring, but we will need salads, entrees, vegetables, drinks and desserts. If you bring a dessert, please consider leaving any left for the soup kitchen this weekend. All other food should be taken home when you leave or it will most likely be thrown out. Thanks for everyone’s participation in this meal as it is always the most anticipated and appreciated meal we eat (everyone is so hungry from fasting) and it is always delicious…Thank you, thank you, thank you, to everyone for bringing food for this meal. If you signed up to clean-up, thanks so much for doing this as well. As we enter this holiest of our holy days, we can look forward to spending so much time together.
Thanks Howard
Please see the listing below, and on the Website, for the details about additional services and celebrations this month.
Community Giving
Please remember to bring your non-perishable food donations with you tonight! I will be there with my hatch-back open to accept your donations before services start. All items collected will be donated to the Help Center in Florence. (A copy of the flyer is attached at the end of this message.) I greatly appreciate the enthusiasm of our congregation and friends in supporting this important opportunity to give to those in need in our community!
I also forwarded along a message that shared what you could do to make donations to help the victims of Hurricane Matthew. In case you did not receive that message…it was from the Jewish Federations of North America and shared the following: “As the storm continues to move north along the east coast of Florida, we have opened a mailbox for those looking to help victims of Hurricane Matthew. https://secure-fedweb.jewishfederations.org/page/contribute/hurricane-matthew-relief-fund”

Reminder items:
- Please make plans to join us this evening, October 11 and tomorrow, October 12 for Yom Kippur.
- Please return your Membership renewal and pledge forms to Marty Abroms as soon as possible. It is critical that we all look into our hearts and determine now what we feel we would like to pledge to the Temple for the year 5777. Also please keep in mind that the amounts listed there are minimum amounts…pledges in excess of these minimums are greatly appreciated!
- In conjunction with the High Holidays, we will again have our Annual Food Drive so please be prepared to purchase non-perishable food items and bring them to the Temple on tonight, October 11 – I will be there to accept your donations before Yom Kippur begins.
- Please plan to bring a dish to share following the close of Yom Kippur services on Wednesday, October 12!
- We now have Temple Cards that can be mailed out on your behalf. These are great for sending out well wishes for the High Holidays! Contact Barbara Sherr for more details. Check the Temple Directory for her contact information.
If you are aware of something in the community that you would like me to draw some attention to in my message, please let me know! And, as always, if you have any announcements you would like for me to share with our membership, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
I look forward to seeing everyone tonight – and throughout the holidays! May we all have an easy fast!
Shalom!
Traci Welch
